White Rum is the ultimate summer mixer. Brands like Bacardi and Malibu are perfect for mixing with sugary juice but those days might be over as more premium white rums are emerging, which would change the way we drink it. If we’re paying $35 for a bottle, we’ll definitely be sipping it on the rocks.
Does white rum have what it takes to become premium? From what we hear, there are two sides of the argument:
Pros: White rum has a distinct flavor. It has been great for mixing cocktails but more premium offerings can be sipped neat or on the rocks.
Cons: A good premium white rum comes at a price. Some people prefer to throw it in with a mixer so they turn to cheaper brands or even vodka – because they just don’t care about the flavor.
