Watch for a new campaign for Guinness, entitled “Paint The Town Black,” to launch the brand’s annual Arthur’s Day* (September 27, 2012) celebrations. The campaign can already be seen on the Guinness Facebook page. It will make its television debut in Ireland on Sunday and then roll out in Singapore, the Caribbean and Great Britain. The ads feature a village preparing for Arthur’s Day by painting the whole town black. *Arthur’s Day is an annual music event that’s been around since 2009 to honor brand founder Arthur Guinness.
Tuthilltown Spirits is set to release its first new product in four years, Half Moon Orchard gin. Named for the ship that Henry Hudson used to first explore the Hudson River, Half Moon is made with locally sourced wheat and apples and eight botanicals, creating what the company calls a “New World dry style gin.” The 46%-abv offering is priced at $37 a 1-liter bottle.
Boston Beer Co. has added Samuel Adams Fat Jack Double Pumpkin Ale to its small-batch Limited Release series. Featuring East Kent Goldings and Fuggles hops, the 8.5%-abv offering is made with more than 28 pounds of pumpkin per barrel, as well as pumpkin pie spices such as cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and allspice. Rolling out nationwide this month, the brew is priced at around $6.99 a 22-ounce bottle.
