Contrary to popular belief, dessert is the most important meal of the day. Satisfying your sweet tooth will always make your day a little brighter, but what happens when you want to drink and have dessert? Some people have room for both, but some folks like to get creative and mix the two. We pulled together a few delicious drink options that will give you a buzz and a sugar high at the same time.
Make-Your-Own Alcoholic Dessert
If you’re hanging out at home and feel like getting a little creative in the kitchen, we highly recommend making the Spiked Samoa Milkshake from Maggie Hoffman at Serious Eats. Some people call them Samoas, others prefer Caramel Delights…regardless of your preference, we’re talking boozy Girl Scout Cookie milkshakes, people. Before you check out the full recipe, here’s a little sample of what you’re going to find: Rum, coconut, ice cream and chocolate syrup. Now hurry up and make one because the Girl Scouts definitely aren’t selling these ones door-to-door!
A Shot of Dessert
When you’re at a bar having a grand ole’ time and the mood for something sweet suddenly strikes you, how about a quick shot? There are a few good ones out there, but a really tasty one is the Pineapple Upside Down Cake shot. Different bartenders will probably have their own variations on what they use to mix the drink, but our favorite is with vodka, bourbon whiskey, peach schnapps, pineapple juice and maraschino cherry juice. If you have a shot and want more, it also works well as a full drink.
Pre-made Dessert Drinks
Sometimes you don’t feel like going out, or even staying home and making your own drink. Sometimes you just want to sit your ass on the couch and drink straight from the bottle. Put down the wine and beer because your night just got a little more interesting…three words for you: Adult Chocolate Milk. It’s the delicious chocolate milk from your childhood, except it’s filled with booze, too. We highly recommend adding a sweet crazy straw to add some excitement and authenticity to the drinking experience.
