Do you ever find yourself bored with your go-to booze? When you’ve grown tired of that mundane drink order, we’ll be here to talk you through what’s new and noteworthy this week:
Gin with a touch of lemon:
Just in time for all your lemon-y summer cocktail dreams to come true, a family company in the Piedmont region of Italy is rolling out their new lemon flavored gin. The alcohol is infused and pressed with lemon peels before it’s added to the mix of juniper and botanicals. Whether you like your gin straight, on the rocks, or in a cocktail, this Malfy Gin is here to remind you that summer is, finally, on its way.
Burnett’s USA Party Bottle:
Spirits with major American spirit! Burnett’s recently launched their newly designed “USA Party Edition” bottle which features a revamped look of red, white, and blue to celebrate the stars and stripes. The new design is available on the brand’s 1.75 litre bottle and is bottled at 40% abv.
Budweiser Kicks off Most Patriotic Summer Ever:
This summer, Anheuser-Busch will be kicking up the patriotism by replacing “Budweiser” with “America” on the front of its 12oz cans and bottles. The brand also plans to add text from the Pledge of Allegiance, “The Star Spangled Banner”, and “America the Beautiful” onto the label. This “America is in Your Hands” campaign will kick off with beers being sold in stores starting May 23rd and a national TV spot premiering June 1st. The campaign will also include billboards, murals, digital content, and retail activations to celebrate events important to Americans such as the Fourth of July, the Copa America Centenario soccer tournament, the 100th anniversary of the National Park Service, and the American athletes competing in the Rio 2016 Olympics.
‘Murica Beer Parody:
Following the announcement that Anheuser-Busch will be repackaging their Budweiser cans to say “America” on the label, Saugatuck Brewing Company announced it would be following suit to “make beer named after America great again” by unveiling a new ‘Murica beer brewed totally in America under the watch of 1,776 bald eagles and tasting like freedom. Sadly, in Facebook comments following the announcement, Saugatuck Beer Company assured fans that the announcement was purely satirical, intending to get a few laughs, and that the company does not in fact have 1,776 Bald Eagles at the brewery.
