Sometimes you watch an outlandish acting performance and you think, there’s not a chance that guy wasn’t drunk while filming that scene. This is a completely legitimate thought because, believe it or not, there are some ridiculously random celebs that have admitted to consuming booze behind the scenes.
We’ll start the list with the most bizarre of the bunch:
Daniel Radcliffe – Yes, the Harry Potter we all know and love filmed some scenes in an intoxicated state. “I went into work still drunk,” admits the wizard. “I can point to many scenes where I’m just gone. Dead behind the eyes.” And we all thought he was just having a physical reaction to the presence of He Who Shall Not Be Named.
Jennifer Lawrence – We’re not entirely surprised by J-Law’s confession to David Letterman regarding her drinking on set of Catching Fire. According to the star, she was “bored” and found her self constantly sipping on Piña Coladas in her trailer during production. Talk about a Hunger Games hangover.
Anna Kendrick – It seems rather appropriate that while filming Drinking Buddies, Anna Kendrick accidently got drunk on set. In a few scenes, the actress was given real beer instead of the non-alcoholic type used in previous scenes. “I was pounding beer, and I didn’t realize it was real until halfway through the take,” claims Kendrick. “I was like, I’m super drunk right now!”
Brad Pitt & Edward Norton – You know that small scene in Fight Club where Pitt and Norton drunkenly hit golf balls? Well they weren’t acting. Apparently director David Fincher recorded the two actors after a heavy drinking session, and it just lucked out to be a great scene. Fair enough.
Shia LeBeouf – We know what you’re thinking; no, Shia was not actually drunk in Holes. In the movie Lawless, LeBeouf channeled his Depression-era Prohibition bootlegger character by turning to a lot of moonshine. “I did it because, when I showed up on set the next day, my [bleep]ing eyes looked like this and my face…had that drunk bloat that I needed, that I couldn’t have if that wasn’t going on,” said LeBeouf.
