How can you not like something called “Fünf?”
It’s a self-professed “friendly” wine that is easy to buy (as in cheap — $5.99-$6.99), easy to open (screw top) and easy to say (no matter how much of it you drink). So much so, that it might be becoming the Diet Coke of wines?
“Funf” is german for “five” — cocktail hour. It comes in Sassy White, Sweet Red, Moscato and Sangria, uh, flavors.
Most importantly, it’s not total crap. Reviewers at snooth.com find the white, which is a Riesling, “Tart at first, with a gentle apple- or pear-like sweetness in the finish.”
Others, at weinsapf.com, though, poke some holes in it. “I did find the bitter element somewhat disturbing. Disturbing like an East German propaganda film.”
No wonder so many use it as a mixer for cocktails.
How do you use Funf, and don’t say for bubble bath. The Funf website has a few good recipes. Check them out or share your own below.

Funf was the name of my dog. Part Border Collie and part Black Lab. I got her after we lived in Heildberg. Never thought we would be moving back to Germany. Bitburg. But we did and the Germans loved Funf. And thougth her name was funny. Great Dog. Good Wine.
