We may not speak for everyone, but with colder months ahead we foresee ourselves spending a lot of time indoors with a little extra time on our hands…time we can use for a DIY project! Now don’t get the wrong idea, the DIY were referring to doesn’t involve hot glue guns or sewing kits…but it does involve cocktails!
It’s no secret that we love to infuse some booze every now and then, and that it’s very important to plan ahead given that the process usually takes 24+ hours. This new cocktail recipe from ABC’s The Chew seems like it’s worth the advanced preparation. If you plan on having a few friends over this weekend or foresee yourself simply sipping on a few beverages while you Netflix and Chill, go the extra mile and prep this Orange Thyme & Anise infused Bourbon tonight. We promise the cocktail prep on Saturday night will be a much speedier process.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups bourbon
- 2 strips orange zest (1-inch thick, plus more to serve)
- 2 pieces of star anise
- 4 sprigs thyme
- Club Soda
- Ice
- Mason Jar & Lid
Directions:
- To Infuse – Into a glass mason jar, add the bourbon, orange peel, star anise and thyme. Screw on tight fitting lid. Let sit overnight, but no longer than 24 hours. Strain the bourbon!
- Tip! – Place the filled mason jar on a sunny window sill. A warm place will assist with infusing the alcohol.
- For the Cocktail – In a ricks glass filled with ice, strain 2 ounces of infused bourbon. Top with club soda to taste. Garnish with an orange peel.
