Halloween is officially a week away, meaning if you haven’t already chosen a costume and bought your favorite fall booze, it’s time to get a move on. There are an abundance of creepy Halloween cocktails to choose from with even more creative, ghastly garnishes to decorate them with. It is Halloween, after all – a lemon slice or a sprig of mint just won’t do.
- Canned lychee fruit
- Blueberries
- Red fruit preserves
Strain the lychees from their juice. Let them dry out for at least half an hour. Using a small knife or flat tool, carefully fill the hollow hole of the lychee with red fruit preserves. Place a blueberry into the hole so it looks like a pupil. Skewer the “eyeball” together and store in a refrigerator until needed.
Fire:
- Rum
- Matches
Choose a drink recipe that includes a rum floater. Once you pour the rum on top of your cocktail, light it with a match (using extra caution). Clap hands over flame to put it out before drinking!
Dripping Blood:
- Grenadine or Raspberry Liqueur
Simply pour grenadine/raspberry liqueur on top of your cocktail. The thick syrup will drip down the inside of the glass to create a “bleeding” effect.
Glow in the Dark:
- Glow stick
After you’ve made your cocktail, place a glow stick in it to garnish. The entire drink will illuminate.
- Orange slice
- Piece of lime rind (about ½ – 1 cm thick)
Place the lime rind in the center of the orange wheel so it sticks out of the top. Float the orange slice on top of your cocktail, lime rind up, so it looks like the top of a jack-o-lantern.
- Small length of red chili pepper (de-seeded)
After pouring your cocktail into a martini glass, garnish with two pointed chili ends by mounting them on either side of the glass.
