Sometimes when you’re on vacation you have to make very important decisions. For example, do I take a dip in the hotel pool? Or should I make a visit to the bar in the lobby? Luckily, at some point in history, a true pioneer invented the swim-up bar. These allow you to hang out in a pool, and then just do a little doggy paddle over to the bar if you get the urge to have a margarita.
Most of the swim-up hotel bars you hear about are either in the Caribbean, overseas, or on cruise ships, but there are actually some amazing pool/bar combos right here in the U.S. If you’re going on vacation this summer and are staying in the country, here are 3 great swim-up hotel bars that will undoubtedly be the highlight of your trip.
North Beach Plantation, North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
This gorgeous Myrtle Beach resort has everything: first class dining, spa treatments, golf…and a giant Caribbean-themed pool complex. There are multiple pools covering 3 acres, large sun deck space, fountains, personal cabanas and a fabulous swim-up bar. Their pool bar was voted #1 swim-up pool bar in the United States by TripAdvisor and #6 in the world.
Room Mate Grace, New York City
If you are vacationing in New York City this summer, you may think there is no way you’ll find a hotel with a swim-up bar. Think again. NYC’s only swim-up hotel bar can be found in the Room Mate Grace hotel located only a few steps from Times Square. It’s a funky boutique hotel and their indoor swim-up pool is open 24/7; they also host an extremely popular gay pool party on Wednesdays.
The Westin La Paloma Resort & Spa, Tucson, Arizona
Looking for something a little more family friendly? The Westin La Paloma Resort & Spa in Tucson is a perfect compromise for parents and kids. They have an insane pool oasis that includes five pools, a giant water slide, cabanas, and Sabino’s Swim Up Bar & Grill. Sabino’s is awesome because they have cocktails and food (and big buckets of beer).
If you weren’t planning a vacation already this summer, you should probably get on that. There’s swim up bars to visit and only a couple of months left.
