We’ve come across some pretty strange concoctions, but nothing beats a beverage with pickle juice as its main component. At first, the thought of dill combined with alcohol may make you cringe, but we assure you it’s worth a try. Pickle juice cocktails are surprisingly tasty, and when mixed with the right ingredients, they turn out to be a salty and savory sensation. So pull the pickle jar out of your refrigerator and prepare to experience a tangy treat.
We’ll start with a classic.
Pickleback (1 serving)
- 1 oz. whiskey or bourbon
- 1 oz. pickle juice
Pour the alcohol and pickle juice into 2 different shot glasses. First take the shot of whiskey or bourbon and then chase with the pickle juice.
Flaming Toad (1 serving)
- 2/3 oz. 151 proof rum
- 1/3 oz. pickle juice
Pour the rum into a shot glass and carefully light on fire. Using the pickle juice, extinguish the fire and shoot quickly. Enjoy.
Dill Pickle Martini (1 serving)
- 2 oz. dry gin
- 1/4 oz. dry vermouth
- 1/2 oz. pickle juice
- 1 slice of a dill pickle (for garnish)
Put ice in a mixing glass and add the gin, vermouth, and pickle juice. Stir for about 1 minute. Strain the liquid into a martini glass and garnish with a dill pickle slice.
The Pickled Surfer(1 serving)

- 1/2 oz. pickle juice
