She did do everything for us growing up; the least we can do is say thanks. But this year, skip the lame flowers and card routine and give her something she’ll actually enjoy: booze.
To start, it’s not Mother’s Day without brunch. Naturally we prefer to have a little alcohol with the meal. Start with Iced java cocktails and (the lazy version of) boozy French toast.
But making breakfast for her once isn’t going to cut it. Obviously make sure you buy her something too. If we were her, we would want a dozen of these delivered to our door. Not into the baked goods? These boozy chocolates would do too.
And after an exciting day of brunch and gifts, she’ll want a cocktail (why stop at just one?) Our suggestion this year is the refreshing and season appropriate Chase in the Garden. You’ll need:
- 2 oz vodka
- 3/4 oz elderflower liqueur
- 1/4 fresh lemon juice
- Raspberries
- Sprig of lavender
Muddle the raspberries and lavender in a shaker. Add vodka, liqueur and lemon juice. Serve to mother dearest over crushed ice and watch her swoon.
Best of luck. Share you tips on how to make Mom happy this Sunday.
