Okay, so you’ve seen The Big Lebowski, right?
Oh god, please tell us you’ve seen this epic cult classic.
If you haven’t seen The Big Lebowski, please slap yourself, go watch the film, and then come back and read the rest of this blog. Thanks.
Anyway, Kahlua just released a short film called “The White Russian,” which honors the famous cocktail. The star and narrator of the film is none other than – of course – Jeff Bridges, aka The Dude, aka the man responsible for making The White Russian even more popular than it already was before The Big Lebowski hit theaters.
“The White Russian” is a story about the unlikely meeting of two men from different worlds, as told by a man (Bridges) reminiscing about his past adventures. Present-day Bridges narrates the cinematic adventure while sipping a White Russian cocktail at a bar. The film was directed by Ivan Zacharias and debuted in Hollywood on September 9 during a special private screening with fans.
We love Kahlua, White Russians, and Jeff Bridges, but what exactly was the point of making this short film? Kahlua wanted it to represent a return to their brand’s heritage in the classic world of cocktails and inspire retro experiences and drinking occasions.
“There are few classic cocktails that resonate as powerfully across generations as the White Russian made with Kahlua and we wanted to partner with a fellow icon like Jeff for this film to showcase the importance of a timeless classic,” said Brian Mequet, Vice President, Rum and Liqueurs, Pernod Ricard USA.
