Valentine’s Day is next week and while you may be tempted to get your girl or guy a box of chocolates, we have one tip for you: don’t. If you want to get lucky, you need to get a little more creative. Stick with the box of chocolate sentiment, but then kick it up a notch… in cocktail form. Create a small sampling of cocktails for your loved one that you both can enjoy, but make them in the flavors that they would normally find in a box of V-day chocolate. Don’t worry, you can totally do this if you are single, too – we won’t judge you if you want to “drink” the whole box.
Dark Chocolate
This drink is called Chocolate Blitzen and BOY does it live up to its name. It’s made with semisweet chocolate, chocolate sprinkles, chocolate ice cream, Irish cream liqueur, dark cream de cacao, and (the most important ingredient) vodka.
Caramel Chocolate
Ever want all the flavor of the caramel chocolates without fear of pulling out a filling in your tooth? Problem solved. For the Caramel Kiss Cocktail, just combine 1 1/2 oz. Godiva Chocolate Vodka, 1/4 oz. Godiva Caramel Liqueur, 1/2 oz. almond liqueur, and 1 oz. cream in a cocktail shaker. Shake that baby up, pour and drink.
Coconut Chocolate
We are a sucker for the coconut chocolates, so we obviously love this drink. For this Chocolate Coconut Cocktail, take a martini glass, dip the rim in water and then into chocolate sprinkles. After that, mix up 1/2 cup crushed ice, 6 oz. coconut yogurt, 1/3 cup chocolate flavored liqueur, 1/3 cup coconut rum and 1/3 cup creme de cacao.
Strawberry Cream Chocolate
The strawberry cream chocolates are always the ones you’re disappointed to bite in to, but that’s only because they taste way better in drink form. Try the Chocolate-Covered Strawberry Martini – all you need is some vodka, white creme de cacao, strawberry liqueur and chocolate syrup. We’d also recommend a chocolate covered strawberry as a garnish to add a little romance.
What are your Valentine’s Day plans? If you’re don’t have the time to go to all of this effort for cocktails, you can’t go wrong with picking up a few bottles of champagne.
Caramel liqueur sounds tasty. I bet you could do some really interesting things with that.
